1. Slow caffeine metabolism 

Caffeine metabolism refers to how quickly the body breaks down and clears caffeine after consumption.

Most caffeine is processed in the liver by a group of enzymes known as cytochrome P450 enzymes. These enzymes help break down caffeine, medications, hormones, and other compounds so the body can eliminate them.

The liver plays a central role in caffeine metabolism because it contains the enzymes needed to break caffeine down.

When liver function is under strain, caffeine may be processed more slowly. This can prolong caffeine’s stimulating effects and may increase the likelihood of jitters, headaches, poor sleep, or a racing heartbeat after caffeine intake.
